How to Claim Your Spotify for Artists Account

Spotify for Artists is the free control panel behind every artist profile on Spotify. It’s where you manage your image, read your streaming stats, and pitch new music to Spotify’s editorial playlists. Here’s how to claim it, step by step, based on Spotify’s own official guidance.

Before you start

• Your music must already be live on Spotify, delivered through a label or distributor. Spotify does not accept direct uploads from artists — a profile is created automatically the first time your music appears in their catalog.
• You’ll need your Spotify artist link or URI (it looks like spotify.com/artist/... or spotify:artist:...). Ask your label or distributor for it, or find your profile by searching your artist name in the regular Spotify app and copying the link from your profile page.

Step-by-step: claiming your profile

1. Go to Spotify for Artists (artists.spotify.com) and log in with a Spotify account — your existing personal account works fine.
2. Choose “Claim Profile” and paste your artist link or URI when asked which profile you’re claiming.
3. Verify your identity. Spotify asks you to add a link to your official website or social media accounts to confirm you’re really the artist (or an authorized manager/label representative).
4. Submit your request. Spotify reviews claims manually, so approval can take a few days.
5. Check your email for confirmation. Once approved, you’ll see the “Registered Artist” label appear in the About section of your profile, along with the verification badge.

If your music was released through a distributor such as DistroKid, TuneCore, or CD Baby, you can often get instant access by requesting Spotify for Artists directly from your distributor’s dashboard instead of applying manually — this skips the multi-day manual review.

After you’re approved

Once you’re in, spend some time setting the profile up properly:

• Add artist photos and a header image.
• Write a real bio.
• Set an Artist Pick to feature your latest release, tour, or announcement at the top of your page.
• Link your social channels, merch store, and (if eligible) a Fan Support fundraising link.
• Explore Canvas — short looping visuals attached to your tracks.

Pitching for playlists

One of the biggest reasons to claim your profile early: Spotify for Artists lets you pitch unreleased songs to Spotify’s own playlist editors. To be eligible, you need to submit your pitch at least 7 days before release, through the “Upcoming” section of the Music tab. This only works for tracks that haven’t been released yet, so claiming your account well ahead of your next release date is worth doing.
